At the end of 2014, we published Two Arabic Travel Books, which combines Accounts of China and India [Akhbār al-Ṣīn wa-l-Hind] by Abū Zayd al-Sīrāfī, edited and translated by Tim Mackintosh-Smith; and Mission to the Volga [Kitāb Aḥmad ibn Faḍlān] by Ibn Faḍlān, edited and translated by James E. Montgomery.

To supplement his published edition-translation, Montgomery has compiled further materials on this text that we have now made available only on the web, on our Book Extras page. These are, as advertised in “A Note on the Text” on page 184-5, an Extended Glossary, Ibn Fadlan’s Logbook, Web Bibliography, Yāqūt’s Quotations, and an alternative edition of Ibn Faḍlān’s Book—all available now!
