Join the full Library of Arabic Literature editorial board in Abu Dhabi this Sunday for an evening conversation about (and reading of) the poetry of the pre-Islamic warrior poet ‘Antarah ibn Shaddad, moderated by LAL’s Executive Editor James Montgomery. We will be reading selections of ‘Antarah’s verse in Arabic as well as our own English translations of it, and talking about the challenges of translating this legendary figure’s unique heroic voice for modern readers.
