The Library of Arabic Literature is happy to announce a public discussion at the Penn Bookstore in Philadelphia, entitled “A Corpus, Not a Canon: Translating Classical Arabic for the Modern Reader,” featuring LAL Editorial Board members Shawkat Toorawa, Devin Stewart and Joseph Lowry, Managing Editor Chip Rossetti, and renowned scholar Roger Allen, whose edition-translation of What ʿĪsā ibn Hishām Told Us, or, A Period of Time will be published next spring. Please join us on November 20 for a live conversation about LAL: its origins, how it selects its titles, and the challenge of making this rich literary tradition accessible to contemporary readers. Click here for event details.

We hope to see you there!
